Olympic Training Center Receives Gifts
May 2008
With the collaborated efforts of Table Tennis's Pam Ramsey (USTTF Marketing) and Newgy Industries, the USA Olympic Training Center (OTC) in Chula Vista, CA is up and running with new table tennis equipment for Olympic and Paralympic athletes cross training and recreation. Upon a recent visit to OTC with newly USOC-selected USATT Board Member Christian Lillieroos and USTTF Marketing Director (also former USATT Executive Director) Clark Mitchell to discuss the future of table tennis with OTC’s director Tracy Lamb, Ramsey spoke to many of the resident athletes who were preparing for the 2008 Olympic Games in China and learned of their interest in table tennis ---- and the lack of decent equipment available to them. Casey Tibbs, current Paralympic World Champion High Jumper and Jeff Skiba, a Paralympian who just broke the World Record high jump at 7’ 6”, are particularly interested in Table Tennis, having recently become members of the San Diego Table Tennis Association (SDTTA). Ramsey’s connection with Newgy Industries as a Robot Sales Representative, led to an exceptional donation of equipment (Rackets, Barriers and more) to the Olympic Training Center with much appreciation from the center’s leaders, resident athletes, visiting Olympic hopefuls from Archery, Softball, Soccer and Field Hockey. Pam states that a special thanks goes to Larry Thoman, General Manager of Newgy Industries, who made the contribution to the USA Olympic Training Center possible on her and Newgy’s behalf.
